A teenage boy is expected to recover after accidentally shooting himself in the leg.

The 14-year-old reportedly found a 22-caliber revolver somewhere — his parent told police that they don't have guns in the house — and he wound up shooting himself in the leg Sunday, said West Valley City Police Lt. Lamont Cox. Police received a call about the accidental shooting about 6:36 p.m.

The boy was taken to the hospital, where they found the bullet had gone "through and through," Cox said.
