West Valley City police are on the lookout for a brazen home intruder in connection with at least two incidents involving women, one of them elderly.

Police spokeswoman Roxeanne Vainuku said the suspect — described as a white male in his mid- to late-20s — entered the unlocked door of a home in the area of 6200 West and 3500 South about 5 a.m. on Tuesday.

The 88-year-old homeowner was at her kitchen table when the intruder confronted her, tried to assault her and then fled when she screamed for help. He was last seen running eastbound.

About 40 minutes later and two blocks to the northwest, another woman preparing for work caught the suspect watching her through a glass door leading into her backyard. The suspect fled when the woman picked up her telephone and shouted she was calling police.

The suspect was wearing blue jeans, a dark colored beanie-style cap and possibly a green shirt, Vainuku said.

On Thursday, police confirmed they were also looking at a third possible incident involving a suspect of similar description.
