Salt Lake City police say a masked gunman was waiting when a Tesoro station employee left to deposit the day's receipts in the bank.

About 5:26 a.m. Thursday, the employee had just existed the business at 874 E. 1300 South when the suspect bolted toward him, grabbed the cash container and fled on foot into the darkness.

The suspect — described as a 5-foot-10 male adult of medium build and wearing dark clothing and sunglasses, in addition to a ski mask — remained at large Friday.

SLCPD asks that anyone with information on this case call 801-799-3000.
