An Alpine elementary school teacher is charged with having child pornography.

Edward A. Greene, 54, was charged in 4th District Court on Thursday with 10 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor. School officials confirmed that Greene, a 5th-grade teacher at Westfield Elementary School in Alpine, resigned Thursday after six years with the Alpine School District.

In May, the Utah County Sheriff's Office located an IP address that had been used to upload five pornographic images of boys, who were likely around 10 to 12 years old, to a Google Drive account, according to the charges. An e-mail address used to access the account belonged to an "Ed Greene," the charges add.

Investigators tracked the IP address to a wireless router assigned to Greene, according to the charges.

"[Greene] was later interviewed and admitted to being the user for the Email address associated with the download of child pornography," the charges read. "… [He] admitted that if there were images of child pornography on his phone it would only be 'a half-dozen or less.'"

Investigators found 10 images of child porn, including the five from the Google Drive account, after searching his phone and tablet, the charges add.

Greene was arrested Friday and booked into Utah County Jail. He later made his $10,000 bail on Monday and was released, according to the jail website.

His first court appearance is scheduled for Monday.
