West Valley City • Forward Brent Gwidt will re-sign with the Utah Grizzlies on Wednesday, general manager and coach Tim Branham has announced.

"Brent will be a large part of our leadership this season," said Branham. "His size, speed and ability to pursue and protect the puck make him a very valuable asset for us."

Gwidt played 56 games for the Grizzlies last season before being elbowed on March 14 in a game against Stockton. Despite missing the final 13 games, he finished with six goals and 13 assists for 19 points.

"I couldn't be happier to be back with the Grizzlies for this upcoming season," said Gwidt, who is spending the offseason in Utah. "The organization and city are top-notch. With Tim Branham behind the bench, it gives us a chance to be successful. I'm really looking forward to training camp."

Gwidt is a Wisconsin native who played at the University of Nebraska-Omaha.

The Grizzlies open the 2014-15 season against Idaho at the Maverik Center on Oct. 11.
