J.B. Shuck spent baseball's All-Star break with his wife in Park City.

The high-altitude mini-vacation must have agreed with him.

Shuck went 2 for 4, drove in two runs and scored another Thursday night at Smith's Ballpark, helping the Bees to a 7-6 victory over Las Vegas.

Shuck started the season with the parent Los Angeles Angels. He hit only .173 in 19 games, however, and was sent to Salt Lake on May 3.

"Just trying to do to much," said Shuck. "I pressed a little bit and, when you do that in this game, it snowballs pretty quick. That's what happened to me."

Shuck, a 27-year-old outfielder, hasn't pouted.

He entered the game against Las Vegas hitting .328 — second in the Pacific Coast League. He is hitting .397 at home.

"Fortunately, coming back down here, I got a chance to play a little bit and get my game back," Shuck said. "… I'm not trying to do too much — just trying to get the job done when I have an opportunity at the plate."

Major League Baseball's July 31 trade deadline is rapidly approaching.

With Mike Trout, Kole Calhoun and Josh Hamilton cemented in the Angels' outfield, Shuck has been mentioned as possible trade bait.

"I really don't pay too much attention to that," he said. "You're always playing for 30 teams — anywhere you are — and that's the approach I take. …

"If I'm down here, I'm working to improve my game so I can go back up with the Angels. If there's a trade, I'll keep trying to improve so I can be part of that [new] team."

Against Las Vegas, Shuck singled and scored during a three-run first inning.

In the second, the Bees bumped their lead to 5-0 when Taylor Lindsey singled and Tony Campana walked. After a double-steal, Shuck delivered a two-run single.

Tommy Field's two run-homer in the fifth made it 7-1.

Meanwhile, Salt Lake starter Wade LeBlanc was breezing. He struck out 10 batters through five innings and ended up improving his record to 7-2, despite some shaky moments by the Bees' bullpen late in the game.
