Here's what's being talked about in pop culture:

• Freddie Prinze Jr. says he nearly quit acting after working with Keifer Sutherland on "24." "Kiefer was the most unprofessional dude in the world," Prinze said. Sutherland's response was more polite. [ABC News]

• Warner Bros. has bought the film rights to Donna Tartt's Pulitzer Prize-winning novel "The Goldfinch." [Entertainment Weekly]

• James Shigeta, the Hawaiian-born actor who was one of the most prominent Asian-American actors in Hollywood, has died at the age of 81. Shigeta played the lead in the musical "Flower Drum Song" (1961), and played the CEO held hostage in "Die Hard" (1988). [The Hollywood Reporter]
