We need welfare reform. As it is now, if you make a little bit more money, you are cut off. I can't understand why there isn't a graduated way to help people get off welfare.
Many believe those on welfare don't want to go off. They are wrong.
I know someone who has been on welfare for a few years. Every time she begins to do better, she loses her food stamps and her child gets kicked off Medicaid. Then she can no longer pay her rent, feed her family, or take her child to the doctor. Is this what we want?
