Steve Wilde's letter ("Slow down and enjoy holiday seasons," August 8) hit the nail on the head! I have been bemoaning the very same thing for a very long time. A couple of years ago I was in a store that had all their gruesome Halloween masks, costumes etc. on one shelf, as this was two or three weeks before Halloween, while the shelf above it was all Christmas stuff. Talk about bizarre! Thanksgiving is hardly given the time of day anymore. Things have changed a lot over the years and not for the better. But now I am showing my age, I guess. Still, I find the whole thing very sad.
