Although it is common sense for most people for the word "rape" to have nothing but negative connotations, in my three months of high school and meeting new people I have been present for a record amount of rape jokes.
While you'd think "rape jokes" is an oxymoron, you'd be astonished by how many people make light of this heavy topic. I think it could be a combination of being sheltered and simply ignorant, but it's my belief that there is something profoundly wrong with this humor.
I don't think these are jokes that should be encouraged in any way, but rather pointed out and shut down.
