Posted: 1:04 PM- Garfield County commissioners voted unanimously today to approve Ruby's Inn incorporation as a town.

Newly appointed Mayor Rod Syrett - one of eight siblings owning the family resort - expressed relief that the long-sought-after designation finally had come.

"The commissioners were reluctant, which I anticipated," Syrett said. "I don't blame them. But at the same time I'm elated. We were well-prepared so there was nothing they could do about it."

Once the lieutenant governor signs off on the articles of incorporation - likely in a matter of days - Bryce Canyon City will be official.

Utah's newest town sits at the entrance to southern Utah's Bryce Canyon National Park.
