BYU's football program picked up two more commitments on Monday from local high school juniors, getting pledges from Bingham High defensive end Moses Kaumatule and Hunter High offensive lineman Ului Lapuaho.
Bingham coach Dave Peck said Kaumatule, a 6-foot-1, 235-pound member of the class of 2011, committed to BYU coach Bronco Mendenhall in Provo on Monday afternoon. Kaumatule is a two-year starter who helped anchor the 5A state champion Miners' outstanding defensive line last fall.
"He's a stud," Peck said.
Also a two-year starter, Lapuaho is a 6-6 junior who helped Hunter pump out one of the state's top running attacks last fall.
Two other Bingham juniors, defensive end Baker Pritchard and running back/linebacker Manoa Pikula, committed to BYU in 2009.
Miners running back Harvey Unga, also a junior, has more than a half-dozen scholarship offers and recently made an unofficial visit to Washington.
BYU now has six commitments from high school juniors, as Kaumatule and Lapuaho join Mountain Crest quarterback Alex Kuresa, Pleasant Grove linebacker Austin Heder, Bingham linebacker Baker Pritchard and Bingham running back Manoa Pikula.
