New BYU football coach Kalani Sitake has landed his first major recruit.

Handsome Tanielu, a Hawaiian who played last season for Snow College in Ephraim, announced via Twitter on Wednesday that he has committed to BYU.

A four-star (Scout.com) defensive tackle, Tanielu committed to Utah last June, but had re-opened his recruitment in the past few weeks.

Boise State and Oregon State, where Sitake was the defensive coordinator until last Saturday, were also among his favorites.

Tanielu, 6-2, 300, from Waianae, Hawaii, is one of several Snow College products receiving national recruiting attention.

Snow OL Garrett Bolles committed to BYU last year but has also re-opened his recruitment and has offers from dozens of programs. Receiver Jonah Trinnaman has also committed to BYU but recently visited Utah and has not indicated whether his commitment to BYU is still strong.
