Utah's gymnastics team announced the signing of three gymnasts, Katelyn Mohr (Carmichael, Calif.), Chloe Sims (Brisbane, Australia) and Meg Whitney (Mesa, Ariz), who will join the Utes in the fall of 2009.

Mohr is a three-time USA National qualifier who trained at the same gym as current Ute Annie DiLuzio. Utah coach Greg Marsden described her as a "very powerful, explosive athlete."

Sims has won nine individual titles at Australia's national championships while Whitney is a member of the Junior Olympic National Team.

Originally from Salt Lake City, Whitney trains at the Desert Devils Gymnastics club where she is coached by former Ute Shelly (Schaerrer) Eaton.

"Meg is an athlete who is just beginning to blossom and whose best gymnastics is still ahead," Marsden said.

The Utes open their 2009 season Jan. 9 against UCLA. The team hosts its Red Rocks preview on Dec. 12 at the Huntsman Center at 7 p.m.
