$7.39 » When it comes to something as hefty as a formidable burrito, shrimp seems the least likely protein to stand up to its sheer mass. Sounds odd, but after one bite, it makes sense. The well-seasoned small, pink shrimps are abundant in the tangle of rice, beans, cheese and pico de gallo all wrapped in a soft and warm flour tortilla. Lone Star's signature fish sauce (jalapeño, cilantro, lime and mayonnaise) comes on the side, as do lime wedges that add some tang.
Lone Star Taqueria is at 2265 Fort Union Blvd., Cottonwood Heights; 801-944-2300. Hours are Monday to Thursday, 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Friday to Saturday, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.
