Frances ReMillard's "Israeli apartheid" (Forum, July 5) suggests that Israel oppresses non-Jews and has a system that is unjust to those in the occupied West Bank and Gaza. Is it not known that there are Palestinian Muslims in Israel's Knesset who help govern the country and make its laws? Is it not known that there are Mosques and Christian churches everywhere in Israel? Is it not known that Palestinians do not reciprocate this openness? Is it not known that Israel pulled out of Gaza completely and for its effort received a continuous stream of rockets for years?
Give me a break. One thing everyone knows is if the Palestinians put down their guns there would be peace for 1,000 years, but if the Israelis put down their guns they would be annihilated. Since Israel's founding in 1948, every offer of peace has been answered with: No peace. No Israel. Let's have some common sense and realism here.
