$10.95 » Places like El Taconazo specialize in a generosity -- in amiable service, ample portions and bold flavors. It might not be the flashiest place to sample meat sautéed with peppers and onions, but its focus is on feeding people good food. At lunch you see a variety of diners feasting on sizzling platters of this tender beef and vegetable mixture. The Bistek a la Mexicana is what a Chili's fajita platter dream of being when it grows up. The house corn tortillas are soft, pliable and perfect to pocket the bistek along with the accompanying house-made rice and beans.

El Taconazo is at 7962 S. State St., Midvale; 801-563-5196. Daily, 10 a.m.-10 p.m.
