Adam Vickers, the chef at Tuscany, was awarded the 2009 Governor's Mansion Artist Award for culinary arts. Each year the governor gives the award to an outstanding individual in the areas of visual, performing or culinary arts. Vickers was selected because he excels at using local and seasonal products, designs his own menus and donates to his community.
New cafe in Midway
The Bear Dance Café opened recently at 79 E. Main, Midway. Owners Bill Williams and Greg Grass serve steaks, seafood, pasta, pizzas, salads and hamburgers. Grass also owns Tarahumara, a Mexican restaurant in Midway. Dinner prices range from $14 to $28. Open daily from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. The upstairs bar stays open later. Thai Garden opens second location
Thai Garden & Noodle House has opened a second location at 868 E. 900 South, Salt Lake City. Just like its Millcreek sibling, the new restaurant offers an affordable menu of Thai specialties such as red and yellow curries, stir-fries, coconut chicken soup and generous noodle bowls. Prices range from $10 to $18. It is open Monday to Thursday, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., and Monday to Sunday, 5 to 10:30 p.m.
