$7.95-$11.95 » No plate, no matter how large or whatever shape, can fully contain a dosa. Sounds relatively exotic but Royal India's dosa is simple in concept. A huge crêpe made with a rice and lentil flour batter, expertly griddled until the sizeable circumference crisps up lacily and becomes golden. Generally, dosas are served folded. What's in them is up to you. Plain has a drizzle of ghee (clarified butter) but fillings can be with curried potatoes or spiced lamb. It's plenty for one, but a fun appetizer to share. Be sure to pass around the sambar -- lentil-tamarind soup.
Royal India is at 10263 S. 1300 East, Sandy; 801-572-6123. Hours are M-Th, 4:30-9:30 p.m.; F-S, 4:30-10 p.m.
