Las Vegas » It was a bad Wednesday night for Utah cowboys at the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo. None of the four who competed at the Thomas & Mack Center placed in their events.
In the bareback, Clint Cannon of Waller, Texas, and D.V. Fennell of Neosho, Mo.,shared first place in Round 7 with identical scores of 84.5. Kaycee Feild of Elk Ridge ended up 12th after posting a 76. He slipped down to third in the average standings.
In saddle bronc, Billy Etbauer of Edmond, Okla., won the round with a scintillating score of 90. Milford's Cody Wright finished 14th with a score of 71. Still, the reigning world champion retained second place in the average.
In tie-down roping, Hunter Herrin of Apache, Okla., and Cody Ohl of Hico, Texas, tied for first in Round 7 with times of 7.1 seconds. Spanish Fork's Clint Robinson was 12th after posting a time of 14.4 seconds. He is 11th in the average.
In bull riding, Corey Navarre of Weatherford, Okla., won the round with a score of 88. Payson's Steve Woolsey continued to struggle. He failed to complete his ride for the seventh night in a row.
Other winners in Round 7 included Luke Branquinho of Los Alamos, Calif., in steer wrestling, Lindsay Sears of Nanton, Alberta, in barrel racing and Derrick Begay of Seba Dalkai, Ariz., and Cesar de la Cruz of Tucson in the team roping.
