St. George • The Arizona Department of Public Safety has identified a 70-year-old Nevada man killed in a crash on Interstate 15 in the Virgin River Gorge.

DPS Sgt. John Bottoms said that investigators say John West Sanford of Boulder City might have been impaired by alcohol or a medical condition before the wreck 8 p.m. Monday on the northbound freeway near Littlefield, Ariz.

Bottoms says Sanford's 2003 Ford F-150 pickup struck the concrete median wall and hit a 2001 Kenworth tractor-trailer driven by 36-year-old Renato Gallegos-Quiralte of North Las Vegas, Nev.

Gallegos-Quiralte wasn't hurt, and Bottoms says he doesn't face charges in the crash.
