Postgame quotes from Utah's Jerry Sloan, Deron Williams, Al Jefferson and Gordon Hayward following the Jazz's 110-88 defeat to the Denver Nuggets on Wednesday at the Pepsi Center.Utah coach Jerry SloanOn needing improvement from Al Jefferson: "I don't want to see it from him, I want to see it from everybody. I don't think it's one guy you've got to knock down because we didn't play well. I don't think any of us played well."What bothered him the most: "Our execution; the way we tried to pass the basketball. We got ourselves in a real bind the way we throwed it. And they just got tougher and tougher defensively and pushed us out of what we wanted to do. You have to give them credit for that."Jazz guard Deron WilliamsOn the loss being expected because the Jazz are a new group: "It happens. We didn't look too good, but it's not the end of the world. It's one game. We get to play tomorrow."On Al Jefferson: "He's got to learn when that double team is coming to kick it out; I'm going to get it right back to him. But we've just got to do a better job in the offense of screening, getting guys open. A lot of times we were just out of place."Jefferson"We could have played a lot harder. That's one thing we can control, the way we go out and play hard, and I don't think we did that in the first half.""It's disappointing because you hate to lose. But this don't make me think no different about this team or what we can do. We've got 81 more games — we've got one tomorrow. So we've got to put this one behind us and hopefully learn from it.""We kind of coast through our offense instead of running through it. We let them hit us instead of us hitting them first."Double teams: "I've got to look to pass. I've got to get out of that habit that I had in Minnesota. I was a black hole when the ball came in, regardless if I try to score. Now, I've got guys that can make guys pay for double teaming me. In the third quarter I looked to pass a lot more. And also, I missed a lot of shots. I missed shots that I know I can make.Jazz forward Gordon Hayward"For me, it felt like I was going way too fast. Just way too fast. And I think that's something that over time it will slow down. But it was a tough one for us. Tough early first game, and they came out and jumped on us and put us back on our heels — it's like the whole game we were just trying to claw and get back at them. It's hard when you put yourself in a hole like that. We can't do that tomorrow."Sloan's in-game advice: "He just wanted us to do our jobs. Sometimes we stood up and they kind of got into us a little bit and we were standing. He just wanted us to execute the system."The Jazz not coming out ready to play: "That's how it is your whole life in basketball, no matter what level you play at. If you come out stagnant, teams can jump on you. Especially at this level with the talent and everything. The beauty of it is we get to play tomorrow. That's the beauty of it. There's not much time. Learn from this one and be ready to go tomorrow."— Brian T. Smithbsmith@sltrib.comTwitter: tribjazz
