There's a big finale, a big premiere and some college basketball tonight.

• I told you back in September that "This Is Us" (8 p.m., NBC/Ch. 5) is the best new show this season and I have most definitely not changed my mind. I love it — and I'm not alone. NBC has already renewed it for two more seasons.

In tonight's Season 1 finale, Jack heads to Cleveland to make things right with Rebecca — and we have reason to believe we're going to find out the details behind Jack's death. And Randall, Kate and Kevin make big decisions about their futures.

• Right after that, it's the premiere of another show that I love. "Trial & Error" (9 and 9:30 p.m., NBC/Ch. 5) is and offbeat sitcom that is both weird and surprisingly funny.

Lawyer Josh Segal leaves New York for the town of East Peck, S.C., to take his first big case — he defends a really odd professor who is accused of killing his wife.

• The NCAA men's basketball tournament tips off … sort of … with the first two of the First Four games. It's New Orleans vs. Mount St. Mary's (4:40 p.m., TruTV) and Wake Forest vs. Kansas (7:10 p.m., TruTV) in play-in games to see who actually makes it into the field of 64.

And, while none of the local teams made it to the NCAAs, Utah and BYU were both invited to the NIT. The Utes open play tonight, hosting Boise State (8 p.m., ESPNU).

(BYU hosts Texas-Arlington on Wednesday.)
