Feild shares 3rd in bareback

Las Vegas • Kaycee Feild of Payson tied for third place in bareback Thursday on the opening night of the $5.9 million Wrangler National Finals Rodeo at the Thomas & Mack Center.

Feild finished with a score of 84 and earned $8,897 for his effort during the NFR's first round.

In the bull riding, Steve Woolsey of Payson finished fourth with a score of 86. His eight-second ride was worth $7,344.

Santaquin's Wesley Silcox failed to score, however.

The 2007 world champion and 2010 regular-season money leader was thrown off his bull halfway through his ride. In the saddle bronc event, 2008 world champion Cody Wright of Milford tied for fifth place with a score of 81.5, which was worth $3,672.

Wright's 21-year-old brother, Jesse, made his first National Finals appearance but failed to score.

In the barrel racing, Kelli Tolbert, of Hinckley, finished 14th out of 15th with a time of 23.94 seconds.
