Utahns have big day at NFR

Las Vegas • Utah participants hit the jackpot on Friday night during the second round of the $5.9 million National Finals Rodeo at the Thomas & Mack Center.

Kaycee Feild of Payson won the bareback event while brothers Cody and Jesse Wright of Milford finished 1-2 in the saddle bronc.

Meanwhile, Kelli Tolbert of Hinckley won the barrel racing and Wesley Silcox of Santaquin finished fourth in the bull riding.

Feild, who tied for third in the opening round, appears fully recovered from a broken arm that sidelined him for two months during the summer season.

In Round 2, Feild posted a winning score of 88 and earned $17,512.

In the saddle bronc, Cody Wright was the winner with a score of 87. He earned $17,512.

Jesse Wright, the 2009 Rookie of the Year making his first NFR appearance, tied J.J. Elshere for second with a score of 85.5. He earned $12,145.

In barrel racing, Tolbert bounced back from the 14th place finish on opening night to win Round 2 with a time of 13.68 seconds.

In bull riding, Silcox earned $7,343.
