Jim McMahon threw a lot of passes and a lot of parties during his time at Brigham Young University.
But he didn't graduate from the LDS Church-owned college, and was 12 credits short when the Chicago Bears drafted him in 1982 and launched his Super Bowl-winning career.
Now, according to a report in Crain's Chicago Business, McMahon is trying to negotiate a way to finish his coursework to get his degree which is a requirement for entering the BYU Hall of Fame.
"I'm hoping I can do it online," McMahon told Chicago Business's Shia Kapos at a Chi-town fund-raiser. "I don't think I could sit in a classroom."
(By the way, Kapos is a former Salt Lake Tribune reporter and an old friend. Her sister is the Tribune's food writer, Kathy Stephenson.)
