BYU and TCU are in talks to play a nonconference football game in 2011, perhaps at the new Dallas Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, several sources have told the Tribune. ESPN is also reporting that the game pitting the former MWC rivals is being negotiated, and says it might happen during the Thanksgiving Weekend. The Cougars already have 12 games scheduled, but would be allowed to play a 13th game because they are traveling to Hawaii this coming season. The Cougars are scheduled to have byes on Oct. 29 and Nov. 26. One source at ESPN — which is also reportedly part of the talks to televise the matchup — told the Tribune on Thursday morning that he hadn't heard anything about a possible BYU-TCU game. However, others are saying it is a possibility. TCU has two openings on its 2011 schedule. Texas Tech pulled out of a scheduled game in 2011 against the Horned Frogs recently. ESPN's web site says a potential BYU-TCU game might be played on Friday, Nov. 25 in conjunction with a three-day football weekend at the stadium that could also include an NFL game on Thanksgiving Day.

However, a TCU beat writer posted this blog shortly after news broke about a potential BYU-TCU matchup, saying it won't be played on Thanksgiving Weekend.
