BYU basketball: ESPN chronicles Jimmer Fredette's season in China on Sunday

ESPN is giving former BYU basketball great Jimmer Fredette the Outside the Lines treatment.

Reporter Tom Farrey traveled to China and spent time with Fredette last month for a special that will air on ESPN's OTL show Sunday at 7 a.m. MDT.

Yeah, that's kinda early.

Here's a video clip previewing the show.

For those of you who like to sleep in a little, the show will also run at 8 a.m. on ESPN2 and 9 a.m. on ESPNews.

"The Chinese people have such a respect for him because he has shown such humility and has been gracious to them," notes ESPN publicist Molly Mita.

Yup, that's Jimmer.

Fredette starred for the Shanghai Sharks in China last season and earned Chinese Basketball Association International Most Valuable Player honors. He won the 3-point contest in the all-star game, a game in which he played.

Fredette led the CBA in scoring with a 37.6 average and added 8.2 rebounds, 4.2 assists and 1.6 steals per game.

For those who might need a reminder, Fredette played at BYU from 2007-11 and scored 2,599 points, which was the highest in school history at the time. The record has since been broken by Tyler Haws.

Fredette was the consensus national player of the year in 2011.
