Former Alice In Chains bassist Mike Starr died Tuesday in Salt Lake City.

At about 1:45 p.m., police were called to a house near 2000 South and Richards Street (40 West), where the 44-year-old Starr was found dead, said Salt Lake City police Sgt. Shawn Josephson.

"The cause and manner of death are going to be determined by the medical examiner's office," he said. Police do not suspect foul play.

Starr, a founding member of the popular 1990s rock band, was arrested last month in Salt Lake City on suspicion of drug possession. He had been a participant in VH1's "Celebrity Rehab" show.
