The Sundance Institute is going to London.

Sundance is teaming with AEG Europe, the company that runs London's entertainment arena The O2, to create a four-day multi-discipline arts festival — Sundance London at The O2 — running April 26-29, 2012.

The event will feature American musical acts and films by American filmmakers. The Sundance Institute will curate the film part, and AEG Europe will stage and promote the rest.

In a statement, Sundance Institute founder/president Robert Redford (who is in London today for the announcement) said the partnership with O2 aims "to bring to the UK the very best in current American independent cinema, to introduce the artists responsible for it, and in essence help build a picture of our country that is broadly reflective of the diversity of voices not always seen in our cultural exports."
