Ballet West joins in Utah Arts Festival's 35th anniversary

Ballet West is going where it hasn't been in 10 years: The Utah Arts Festival.

Utah's premier ballet company will be performing each night of the 35th annual festival, organizers announced today. To secure Ballet West's appearance, it took three years of negotiations with Ballet West artistic director Adam Sklute - and a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts.

"Ballet West is an important part of Utah's artistic landscape," festival director Lisa Sewell said in a statement. "It's fitting that the company's beautiful dancers will again grace our stages during our 35th Anniversary."

Ballet West will perform the following works: "Fall Into Loving Arms," choreographed by Tom Mattingly; "Chaconne – Grand Pas de Deux," choreographed by George Balanchine (courtesy of The George Balanchine Trust), "Don Quixote – Wedding Pas de Deux" and "Swan Lake Pas de Deux," both choreographed by Marius Petipa; and "The Flames of Paris Pas de Deux," choreographed by Vasily Vainonen.

The Utah Arts Festival runs June 23-26 at Library Square in downtown Salt Lake City.
