The little Mormon movie "17 Miracles" was quite a Monday-night draw in its limited Utah run.
The movie, which depicts a handcart company's grueling trek across Nebraska and Wyoming on its way to Utah, scored a per-screen average of $3,229 on the 12 screens it played on Monday, according to a statement from Deseret Book (parent company of Excel Entertainment, the film's distributor).
By comparison, the week's big national title, "X-Men: First Class," had a Monday per-screen average of $1,497, according to Box Office Mojo.
"17 Miracles" will be expanding to more screens, and bigger auditoriums, this weekend, Deseret Book said.
