A woman bicyclist escaped with minor injuries Friday afternoon when she was struck by a TRAX light-rail train in Salt Lake City.

Utah Transit Authority spokesman Gerry Carpenter said the 1:43 p.m. accident occurred when the eastbound woman allegedly made an illegal left turn in front of the train, also eastbound, near 400 South and 600 East.

"She apparently didn't see the train and it struck her, dragging her a short distance as her bike went under the train," Carpenter said.

The woman, in her 20s, was transported to University Hospital for treatment of minor injuries and was reported in good condition, Salt Lake City police confirmed.
