West Valley City • After a one-day break, the annual Days of '47 Rodeo concludes Monday night with its final performance at the Maverik Center.
Reigning world saddle bronc champion Cody Wright of Milford is positioned for a big payday, along with Cody Angland, of New South Wales, Australia; Will Smith, of Marshall, Mo.; and Tyler Corrington, of Hastings, Minn., Wright is tied for first place with one round to go.
All four saddle bronc riders posted scores of 83 in earlier performances.
It has already been a successful week for Wright, who has won two of the past three Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association world championships.
At the Snake River Stampede in Nampa, Idaho, he earned $8,300 by tying for first place in the opening round, tying for second in the final round and finishing second in the average.
Wright will likely cash a big check in Ogden, too.
With one performance left in the Pioneer Days Rodeo, he leads the saddle bronc standings after scoring an arena-record 91 points Friday night.
Meanwhile, there is a three-way tie in the Days of '47 Rodeo bull riding standings.
Travis Atkinson, of Lehi, is one of the leaders after scoring an early-round 86. He shares the top spot with Chance Smart, of Philadelphia, Miss.; and Jake Wade, of Alamo, Nev.
The barrel racing is also tied.
Carlee Pierce, of Woodward, Okla.; and Jessi Eagleberger, of Stringtown, Okla., posted identical times of 13.98 seconds.
At Nampa, where the Snake River Stampede ended Saturday night, Pierce earned more than $10,000 by finishing second in the first round, second in the final round and second in average.
