A couple hours after BYU announced that Brandon Davies has been reinstated as a student and member of the men's basketball team, another piece of BYU basketball-related news floated out of the social media world. Former Cougar superstar Jimmer Fredette announced to the world, via Twitter, that he is engaged. Fredette said he proposed to his longtime girlfriend, Whitney Wonnacott of Chatfield, Colo., on Friday evening, and that she said yes. "I'm officially engaged everyone," Fredette wrote. "She said yes and she was completely surprised! It was perfect! He ended the tweet with a #perfectnight hashtag. Wonnacott is a BYU cheerleader entering her senior year at the school. Fredette had 54,464 followers on Twitter on Friday evening. Not bad considering that midway through his senior season last February, he still had not established a Twitter account. Wonnacott actually tweeted before Fredette that the couple was engaged, saying "@jimmerfredette proposed!. We're officially engaged!" Fredette has been living in Provo and working out daily while waiting for the NBA lockout to end. He announced earlier this week that he has helped organize a pair of all-star basketball games, exhibitions, that will take place in West Valley City (Maverik Center) and Provo (Marriott Center) in September.
