Hoist the mainsail and swab the parrot! It's International Talk Like a Pirate Day.

Yes, such a holiday exists - and it's today, Sept. 19. Go to the official "Talk Like a Pirate Day" website for all the details, matey.

And even in landlocked Utah, there be folks eager to celebrate the glorious holiday:

The Salt Lake County Library is marking the occasion tonight at 6 p.m. at the Whitmore Library, 2197 E. Ft. Union Blvd., Salt Lake City. Kids can make pirate eyepatches, and a pirate movie will be screened. (All ages welcome, but kids under 5 should have an adult with them.)

The Weber County Library is celebrating tonight at 7 p.m. at the Southwest Branch, 1950 W. 4800 South, Roy. Activities include pirate stories, games, and a chance to make your own treasure.

And the lubbers at Off Center Games, a comic book store at 61 N. 100 West in Moab, will be holding their first annual pirate-day party.

Consider yourselves informed, me hearties!
