In eight tries, Utah State has never scored a win over BYU in women's soccer.
Not once. Not even a tie.
The Aggies will try to buck history Thursday.
"That's not really on our minds that we've never beaten them," said sophomore midfielder Jen Flynn. "But hopefully we'll get a win this year."
The Aggies are 8-2 after losing last week at Tulsa and Oklahoma State. BYU entered the week 4-3-2. The teams have played five of the same opponents this year, without much variation in result.
The in-state rivalry has intensified since the teams first met in 1996.
"We've played with girls on that team and club teams," said Flynn, who is from Sandy and played at Juan Diego High School. "We have a lot of Utah girls on our team and a lot of Utah girls on the BYU team."
The Aggies will play at Boise State on Friday before starting Western Athletic Conference play at Hawaii on Sept. 30. The game against Utah State is second in a stretch of four-straight home games for the Cougars. They will next host the University of Portland on Oct. 5 and Pepperdine on Oct. 8.
