Woman charged with obstructing homicide investigation

A 36-year-old woman remained behind bars Wednesday night after Provo police allege she hindered officers' search for a gun used in a slaying.

Provo police allege Robin Jackson, of Beaver, had knowledge of what happened to the gun used to shoot Andy Purcell, 32, who died May 17, a day after he was found on his mother's front porch with a gunshot wound to the forehead.

According to the charging documents filed in the 4th District Court, police believe Jackson knew what happened to the gun used to kill Purcell and was present when it was allegedly sold to a Centerville man for a gram of methamphetamine. The documents claim that Jackson has denied any involvement or first-hand knowledge of what happened to the gun after the homicide.

Authorities have charged three men, Danny LeRoy Logue, of Ogden, Yuri Sanchez Lara, of Orem, and Darrell Wayne Morris, of Price, with first-degree felony aggravated murder in connection with Purcell's death.

Police allege Lara suspected Purcell had informed police about drugs in Lara's storage unit in Orem, and Lara told a confidential informant that he paid Morris an ounce of meth to commit the assault. Morris allegedly brought Logue along when he went to shoot Purcell, police claim.

Charging documents allege Jackson was dating Logue at the time of the slaying and was present when Morris and Logue were discussing what happened to the gun used in the shooting. The documents allege that Morris was angry at Logue for selling the gun to "a probate" — a man trying to get into a white supremacist gang the two men were a part of — instead of getting rid of it.

Police allege Logue and Jackson went together to the Centerville home to sell it. They allege Jackson went inside to retrieve a pair of high heels while Logue sold the gun, hidden in a brown makeup bag, to a man there for a gram of meth, the documents show. The man, who allegedly purchased the gun, has not been charged, and documents indicate he was cooperating with police.

Police said Jackson was being held in the Utah County jail on a $30,000 cash-only bond on a second-degree felony charge of obstructing justice.
