Utah forecast: Partly cloudy days, frigid overnights

Partly cloudy and chilly skies are forecast for Utah as it enters the mid-week with a hazardous weather outlook advisory in place for the eastern portion of the state Wednesday.

The National Weather Service warned that a storm system moving out of the southern Rockies toward the eastern plains was expected to keep isolated snow showers hovering over the peaks ranging from Vernal and running south through Green River, Moab, Monticello, Blanding and Bluff.

The Utah Department of Transportation underscored that advisory by pointing with particular concern to expected snowy driving conditions on mountain routes Tuesday including Parleys Summit on Interstate 80;Daniels Summit on U.S. 40; Soldier Summit on U.S. 6; I-15 summits from Cedar City north to Scipio; Beaver, Cove Fort, and Kanosh on I-15; I-70 over the Clear/Ivie Creek summits; State Road 31 east of Fairview, SR-153 east of Beaver, SR-20, SR-14/143 east of Cedar City, and SR-12 over Boulder Summit .

Northern Utah was expected to see high temperatures in the low-40s with overnight lows in the teens to low-20s Wednesday, while southern Utahns looked for highs in the mid-50s and lows in the teens to low 30s.

The Utah Department of Environmental Quality gave its "Green," or healthy ranking for air quality throughout the state.

Salt Lake City looked for highs Tuesday and Wednesday of 41 and 43 degrees, respectively; Ogden 41 and 42; Provo 42 and 44; Logan 39 and 40; Wendover 42 and 43; Duchesne 38 and 39; Cedar City 40 and 44; St. George 55 and 58; and Moab 46 and 45 degrees.
