During the Jerry Sloan-era, Utah often employed two backup point guards. The Jazz initially could keep just one this season, though, to play behind starter Devin Harris.

Utah had recently been in contact with veteran Sebastian Telfair. But a league source told The Salt Lake Tribune on Wednesday that Telfair is close to signing with Phoenix.

Meanwhile, veteran Earl Watson is reportedly leaning toward signing with Atlanta. Watson successfully backed up Harris and Deron Williams last season, and has expressed interest in rejoining the Jazz. He said Wednesday on Twitter he hasn't made up his mind about which team he will sign with.

If the Jazz lose out on Telfair and Watson, longtime Utah reserve Ronnie Price could return to the picture. Price told The Tribune last week he wants to re-sign with his "family."
