As one who likes a broad field of capable presidential candidates, I am dismayed at the dismal bunch of GOP contenders. The likes of Rick Perry, Herman Cain, Michele Bachmann and, sigh, Newt Gingrich, invite dismay.
Happily, Mitt Romney and Jon Huntsman Jr. are far better prospects. Not so happy is their slow slog in making headway.
The possibility of a relatively easy run for a second term for President Barack Obama is welcome to a sizeable number of voters. Still, I prefer having a choice from a field of contenders viewed as being up to the job.
Hopefully, some will come forward.
