State colleges: UCLA completes sweep of Utah baseball team

The UCLA baseball team defeated Utah 8-3 on Sunday in Los Angeles to complete a sweep of their three-game Pac-12 series.

UCLA (28-23, 17-10) had an RBI double and back-to-back home runs to break a 1-1 tie with a five-run fifth inning.

Utah pitcher Josh Lapiana (3-6) took the loss, allowing five runs on seven hits with four strikeouts over 42⁄3 innings.

Chandler Anderson went 3 for 5 with an RBI and a run scored to lead Utah (24-24, 12-15) at the plate, and DaShawn Keirsey Jr. had two hits.

Utah will host Arizona State in a three-game series beginning Friday night to end the regular season.
