Here's your Christmas weekend forecast, Utah: Partly cloudy skies, sunny and cold enough to frost Rudolph the Reindeer's nose.
In fact, come Christmas Day, northern Utahns will see mostly clear, bright weather with highs in the upper-30s, a forecast echoing that for Friday and Saturday. Lows will mostly be in the low teens.
Southern Utah's forecast will be similar, except high temperatures will approach the mid-50s with highs in the teens and 20s.
Want a white Christmas? Then your best bet will be to pack up the car and drive into the mountains, because little more than frost will be available at the lower elevations. No snow is on the horizon.
The good news is that the state's air quality gets a "green" after all, a good holiday color for healthy breathing through the weekend.
However, the Utah Avalanche Center is warning of elevated risks for dangerous snow slides on mountain slopes throughout the state, with Ogden, Salt Lake City and Provo districts getting "orange" or considerable avalanche risk rankings and Logan, the western Uintas and Moab earning "yellow" or moderate grades.
Salt Lake City expected to follow its Friday high temperature of 32 degrees with 35 Saturday and 38 on Christmas Day; Ogden looked for 31, 35 and 38 degrees, respectively; Provo 33, 39 and 42; Logan 26, 29 and 32; Wendover 27, 37 and 33; Duchesne 23, 27 and 32; Cedar City 33, 38 and 41; St. George 48, 53 and 55; and Moab 31, 37 and 44 degrees.
