Hollywood does not have a monopoly on movies about 9/11.

The 2010 Indian-made drama "My Name Is Khan" put a Bollywood spin on issues of prejudice against Muslim-Americans.

Indian megastar Shah Rukh Khan stars as Rizwan Khan, a Muslim born in India and living in San Francisco. He also has Asperger's syndrome, a mild form of autism that makes it difficult to function socially. After 9/11, that disability is mistaken by airport authorities as suspicious behavior, and he is detained by Homeland Security. After many travails, Khan decides the only way he can clear his name is to meet face to face with President Bush.

"My Name Is Khan" has a free screening Tuesday, Jan. 3, at 6 p.m. at the City Library auditorium, 210 E. 400 South, Salt Lake City. The screening is presented by the Salt Lake Interfaith Roundtable, the Sri Ganesha Hindu Temple of Utah, and the Utah Film Center. A panel discussion follows the screening.
