"Declaration of War" debuted at the Cannes Film Festival's International Critics Week and is France's entry in the foreign-language Oscar category, and it looks to be a very emotional experience.
Director Valérie Donzelli and her partner/co-screenwriter, Jérémie Elkaïm, star as Juliette and Romeo, two young actors who fall in love, move in together and have a child, Adam. In this case, "baby makes three" starts out perfectly for the new family until Juliette and Romeo learn that Adam has a brain tumor.
Donzelli and Elkaïm based the story on their own real-life experience, and the reality of the situation can be felt in the trailer.
(Warning, there is some brief female nudity in the trailer, at the 26-second mark.)
"Declaration of War" screens in the Spotlight section of the 2012 Sundance Film Festival.
