The documentary "A Fierce Green Fire" bites off a huge topic - the history of modern environmental activism, from the '60s to now.

Director Mark Kitchell ("Berkeley in the Sixties") dissects that history into five chapters, tracing the first conservation movements, the push to fight pollution, the rise of radical groups like Greenpeace, the global fights over development, and the current battles over climate change.

The movie screens in the Documentary Premieres section of the 2012 Sundance Film Festival.
