An accident involving a Utah truck driver has claimed the life of an Idaho woman on eastbound Interstate 84 in Idaho's Cassia County.

The Idaho State Police report that the crash occurred at 2:22 p.m. Monday when westbound 23-year-old Jennifer Shira, of Kooskia, Idaho, lost control of her 2003 Subaru Impreza and crossed the freeway median near Burley.

She then collided with a 2007 Freightliner semi-trailer rig driven by Dick Garoutte, 51, of Clearfield, Utah. Garoutte was uninjured, but Shira was dead at the scene of the accident. Her husband, Bryson Shira, 26, and two young children were treated for minor injuries at Cassia Regional Medical Center in Burley. All occupants of both vehicles were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.

The eastbound lanes were blocked for about two and a half hours during the investigation. No citations were issued.
