"Wish You Were Here"

World Dramatic

*** (Three stars)

This Australian film is a brilliantly layered story that recounts a Cambodian pleasure vacation gone wrong. No, it is not "The Hangover 2." Four people go on vacation, and only three return, and the movie works so well because it is a blend of mystery and an intimate character study, with Joel Edgerton demonstrating why he is a leading man on the rise. Full of twists, this film shifts back and forth in time as the shocking events of what really happened reveal themselves in devastating fashion.
