A West Wendover man was stabbed in the abdomen while walking home early Monday.

The man, 26, was approached by two men at about 2:20 a.m. They had a brief conversation, and then one of the men pulled out an unknown object and stabbed the victim. They stole items from the man and then ran away, according to David Wiskerchen, public information officer for the Nevada city's police department.

The victim did not know the suspects and was able to provide little information about the incident. He was taken to a Salt Lake City-area hospital. He is in fair condition and is expected to make a full recovery.

The West Wendover Police Department is investigating the crime as a robbery and attempted murder.

Police are asking anyone with information to call the department at 775-664-2930. Callers wishing to remain anonymous may call Secret Witness at 775-664-3188 or leave an anonymous email at tipacop@westwendovercity.com.
