The final weekend of the Sundance Film Festival features no shortage of star power, with Brad Paisley in West Valley City and Akon, Passion Pit and Nas in Park City.

The JayhawksSpotlight SHOW • In theory, the pioneering alt-country band The Jayhawks never broke up, but when founding member Mark Olson left the band in 1995, the magic that was created with fellow founding member Gary Louris disappeared. To fans' delight, recently Olson rejoined the band, and with its classic line-up intact, the band is touring behind its great 2011 album, "Mockingbird Time." In an interview with The Tribune, Louris said coming back to Utah during the Sundance Film Festival brings up good memories for him: about six years ago, he spent six weeks at the Sundance Institute's Composers Lab, learning how to score films. Meeting living legend John Adams was a highlight during the lab, and since the experience, he has written music for films such as the acclaimed 2006 documentary about crossword puzzles, "Wordplay." But his main priority now is The Jayhawks. "It's an over-rated word, but there is a certain magic [back]," Louris said. There certainly is.When: Saturday, Jan. 28 at 9 p.m.Where: The State Room, 638 S. You remember Santos: he has sang the hook for many songs by Twilight Concerts' beloved rapper Lupe Fiasco, including arguably Fiasco's biggest hit to date, "Superstar." But Santos is an acclaimed, organic artist in his own right, and at this show he will perform songs from his forthcoming album "Quickly Disappearing," due out Jan. 31. The theme running through the album, Santos said in a Tribune interview, is the crisis of climate change. He remembered when the issue hit home for him: "I went to Denali National Park to see a glacier, and it was just some dirt on top of some snow." The scene was so seared in his mind that he knew he had to use his spotlight to speak on the issue. "There are bigger things happening than an artist releasing records," Santos said. "I've tasted that, and it's fruitless after 15 minutes."When: Sunday, Jan. 29 at 7 p.m.Where: The Sky Lodge, 201 Heber Ave., Park CityTickets: $40 at the door or at TheHouse.org
